This is another of the umpteen performances by young ones in November. Pooja Dattani, Nuti Satyavani, T Sravanthi... been through all of them? Shruthi Reddy, a 3rd year computer science engg student, has been learning Kuchipudi since she was 10 years old, under the able guidance of her guru Maddali Usha Gayatri. And she's already given several performances along with her Guru. After her rangapravesam on the 25th of April (where A Madhava Reddy and Dr. C Narayan Reddy were the guests of honor), she has been graded "A" in the auditions conducted by the Dept of Culture, and graded "B" by the Doordarshan Kendra. Her programme also has been recorded by Doordarshan.
The program today marks her 25th solo performance. Guests to the event include Dr Nataraja Ramakrishna, dance maestro, N Gopi, VC of the Telugu University, Prabhakar Reddy, MP, and P Narasimha Reddy, Principal of the Srinidhi Institute of Science and Technology.
Swetha Reddy is younger still. The younger sister of Shruthi is studying in the 9th standard at St Joseph's Public School at King Kothi. She too has been learning dance under Usha Gayatri for the last 5 years, and has participated in various performances along with her Guru and sister Shruthi.
