You will Thank God It Is Monday, because BITS Pilani Hyderabad has invited your favourite standup comic Kenny Sebastian to deliver his brand of middle-class roast, at its cultural extravaganza Verba Maximum on February 6.
Born and raised across different cities in India, Kenneth Sebastian is a musician, filmmaker and a stand up comedian. More importantly, he has a lot of stories to tell.
Kenny started making films at the age of 15 and by age 23, he had already written and directed 12 short films, edited two major Indian motion pictures ("Station" by Sumit Ghosh and Joint Trip by Siddhanth K S).
He did a four-year degree in painting from Chitrakala Parishath which gave him ample time to pursue other mediums of art like theater, music and comedy. While in college, he released a self-produced acoustic blues album called Balance along with Anup K R. Now currently a full time stand-up comic, he has performed across the country with other comics including Vir Das, Phil Nichol (UK), Scott Capurro (UK), Raj Sharma (US, HBO), Imran Yusuf (UK), Tanmay Bhat (AIB), and many more.
He also toured America with Abish Mathew, and performed in New York at the prestigious New York Comedy Club, in Atlanta at Laughing Skull, and in Los Angeles at West Side Comedy Theater. He has undergone training in sketch comedy writing at Magnet Theater (New York) and done two levels of improvisation training at the world-renowned Upright Citizens Brigade (Amy Poehler - New York).
As an artist he is managed by Only Much Louder (OML), Mumbai.
In 2014, he and a group of experienced comedians including Kaneez Surka, Abish Mathew, and Kanan Gill started an Improvisational comedy ensemble called The Improvisers, which is, as per reliable celeb magazines, one of the highest-rated Improv groups in the nation.
Kenneth also wrote and acted in an entire season of India's first improv sketch show named The Living Room on Comedy Central India. It aired from December 1 to 30 (20 episodes) 2014. And on November 27, 2014, Sebastian released a one-hour stand up comedy special on YouTube called Journey To The Center Of My Brain, becoming one of the first comedians in India to do so.
On May 24, 2015, he released another 30-minute online comedy special series Insides-Out which has almost a million views on YouTube. Soon after, he released his third 30-minute online comedy special Awenest which garnered almost 3 million views. When not on stage, Kenneth runs a film and music studio called SuperHuman Studioz where he produces content for his Youtube Channel that has over 28 million views and 350 thousand subscribers.
He also works as a professional corporate trainer in a company called Outperform, having trained clients including Goldman Sachs, ANZ, Mercedes, VmWare, etc.. Currently, at the age of 24, the comedian has done over 500 shows in four years, written and acted in an entire season of a show on Comedy Central, released four comedy specials online, and created the science fiction web series Star Boyz along with Naveen Richard.
