The ClimbOn Fitness Club will take participants on a four-day trek to Matheran, a hill station in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, from February 3 to 6. All willing hitchikers should gather at the Namapally Station, where the organizers will meet them.
Located along the Western Ghats at an elevation of 800 m (2,625 feet) above sea level, the town is located 90 km from Mumbai, and 120 km from Pune. It is one of the most ecologically sensitive hill stations in the nation, due to which no form of motorised transport is allowed. The name Matheran means either "forest on the top" or "mother forest". The trekking fee is Rs. 2,900, inclusive of accommodation and train charges, but excluding food.
