Kaushalyam is a joint program by the Crafts Council Of India with the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles (Government of India) It is being held from 18th to 27th February, at the Shilparamam Crafts Village.
150 artisans will be participating in this mega bazaar. The exhibition will feature jewellery, embroidery, metal ware, toys, puppets, sarees and more.
A wide range of jewellery is available in a variety of mediums - including semi-precious stone, silver, thread, glass beads, coconut shell, lac bangles, jute, pearls, wood and terracotta. The stalls will also have fine embroidery as in Kantha Sujni, chikan work and Phulkari used on hand.crafted fabric. Then, there is lacquerware, bronzes, dhurries, bamboo and cane products, jute articles, kauna crafts, black pottery, woven tribal textiles from Korapad, leather puppets, paintings, bhoota articles, handmade paper products, kalchutties, horn craft cutlery, dhokra, mats, ceramics, mojaris, terracotta, bell metal and metalware in a mind-boggling variety.
Toys from Kondapally and Ettikoppaka will be another highlight. In the textiles range, handloom saris like Paithani, Kalamkari, Kancheepuram, Tangails and Pochampally are an added attraction. A range of stone and wooden products will also be on sale.
The Crafts Bazaar is an annual fair organized by CCI , to salute the efforts of the artisan community by providing a marketing base to showcase their products developed through the years. It is an expression of the craftsperson, and an exercise to help her/him interact and sell directly to the customer and providing a hands-on exercise to learn about sales and marketing.
