When a heartbreaking story is told in a lighthearted way, does it make the experience more intense, or does it take away the edge? This story of a sexually promiscuous girl who is looking out for her perfect guy, finds him and realises he is HIV +ve, is a musical and a comedy. How's that for 'lighthearted'?
Jeanne (Virginie Ledoyen) and Olivier (Mathieu Demy) sing songs while naked in bed together, and there is a dash of choreography every once in a while in the movie. Olivier leaves Jeanne to go away when he acquires AIDS, and the end of this movie is known for its insightful portrayal of human affairs.
Directed by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau, Jeanne And Her Perfect Guy will be screened at 1830 hrs at Sarathi Studios by Alliance Francaise, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club.
