This week, at the Alfred Hitchcock Retrospective, the Hyderabad Film Club brings to you, not just a director and his movies, but an institution. A name that is used as an adjective to describe the genre he spawned. A movie-maker who had a kind of effect that made him hated, overloved, oversimplified and overanalyzed, all at the same time. But one who undeniably left you jumping at shadows.
He made movies about spirits, about political plots, and finally about psychos. This time Hitchcock uses birds, another alien angle used as a bait to dig out horror and thrill. The story is about a spoilt socialite and a notorious prankster Melanie Daniels, who in the course of her mischief, becomes the victim on inexplicable attacks by flocks of seagulls. The film will be screened at Sarathi Studios at 1830 hrs on the 21st.
