Few can convey an art better than an ardent follower. An evening of ghazals presented by a repertoire of amateur classical singers, who have managed to keep their passions burning despite their professional commitments, might prove just that.
Lamakaan is presenting 'Izhaar - An Evening Of Ghazals' at its premises on 20th November, from 7pm to 9pm.
The program will present Parag Sathe, Sandeep Kelkar and Varada Prabhu on the vocals, Rahul Deshpande on the harmonium, Vivek Kayal on the tabla, and Prem on the guitar. Laxman Sapre will be the emcee for the evening.
A brief profile of the performers is sketched below:
Parag Sathe: He has undergone training in Hindustani classical music for 8 years, and has been part of solo/group programs on classical and semi-classical music. He has won prizes at various competitions, and plays the tabla as well.
Sandeep Kelkar: He has learnt classical music for 4 years, and plays the keyboard as well.
Varada Prabhu: Armed with a 5-year training in Hindustani classical music, she has performed in various light music programs.
Rahul Deshpande: A disciple of Appa Jalgaonkar, he has been learning the harmonium since a very young age. He has accompanied artists like Padma Talwalkar and Satyasheel Deshpande.
Vivek Kayal: He picked up the nuances of the tabla under the tutelage of Suhas Shastri, and has been performing in various program in and around Hyderabad.
Prem: An exponent of Western music and jazz music, he is associated with various groups performing Western music.
Laxman Sapre: With over 7 years of experience in ETV Urdu, he will throw light on how Urdu language has nurtured ghazals and inspired ghazal-singers.
