Identification Of A Woman, a film by Michelangelo Antonioni, will be screened as a part of the Italian Film Festival titled Rome In Classic Italian Cinema, being organised by the Hyderabad Film Club this month. The film is being screened on 16th October at the Prasad Labs Preview Theatre, at 6:15pm.
Identification Of A Woman is about an Italian film director named Niccolo (Tomas Milian), who is out looking for a subject for his new film. In the course of his search for a subject, Niccolo finds, and falls in love with, a high-born, enigmatic young woman named Mavi (Daniela Silverio). In their 2-month affair, Niccolo receives veiled threats to drop Mavi. Plus, his sister, a successful gynaecologist, is mysteriously fired from her hospital.
About half-way through the film, Mavi disappears. Niccolo becomes obsessed with finding her again, but while searching for her, he slips into an affair with another woman, an actress named Ida (Christine Boisson). Ida, as chance may have it, becomes the key to the solution of Mavi's mystery.
Directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, the movie is 128 minutes long. The film won the 35th Anniversary Prize at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival.
