As a tribute to Bapu on his 140th birthday, artist K Siva Kesava Rao has created a series on the great spiritual and political leader titled Gandhi - On The Serrated Road, an exhibition of sketches of the Mahatma, from 29th September to 8th October, at the Kalakriti Art Gallery. The exhibition will be on from 11am to 7pm everyday.
The paintings will be inaugurated by Herr Hans-Burkhard Sauerteig (Counsel General OF the Federal Republic of Germany, Chennai) and the guest of honor is Herr Christian Bartlof (Chairperson, Gandhi Information Centre, Berlin). The exhibition is being organised in association with Goethe Zentrum, to set a stage for both the International Day Of Non-Violence (Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd Oct) and German National Unification Day (3rd Oct).
Gandhi - On The Serrated Road is an intense research on Gandhi, with about 25 sketches made in oil and charcoal of the father of the nation, portraying Gandhi at various stages of his life.]
Siva Kesava Rao has done a PD Graphics from MS University, Baroda (Gujarat), where he mastered techniques in designing, painting, print making, natural dyeing & hand block printing. He is also a practising artist (oil on canvas and natural dye on silk, and ink & water colors).
In 1998, Siva Kesava Rao, along with his wife Bina Rao, set up a Design Studio called Creative Bee, in Hyderabad. Creative Bee has diversified activities in the field of textile & fashion design, production and promotion of handloom and handicrafts.
