Hyderabad Marriott is hosting a fund raising event for Marriott Home, a school and home for children of leprosy-affected people in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, on 24th March at the Hyderabad Marriot Hotel And Convention Centre. The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by a 4-course sit-down dinner with wines. The gathering can enjoy dinner while listening to Jayawant Naidu on the Jaywant guitar, and DJ Akhtar from Mumbai spinning some popular remix numbers.
Jayawant Naidu had started learning the Hawaiian guitar at the age of 8 from S N Mukherjee. He took further training from Dinesh Kumar Sampat and stood first in the prestigious J C Bahl Competition organized in September 1983. While studying in Sydenham College, Bombay, Jaywant took further guidance from B Kishtaiah and K Jangaiah, and completed his Sangeet Visharad from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj.
Jaywant Naidu performs on a 19 string Hawaiian Guitar. He has played at a number of music festivals including National Youth Festival, Bhopal, Vaadya Madhuri Festival, Chennai, Deepika Youth Festival '98 , Hyderabd, and Andhra Music Festival. He also performed at the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy. He was also the first guitar player to perform at a concert at the Asthana Mandapam of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
DJ Akhtar is probably the only DJ in Asia to have successfully completed 15 years in the same nightclub, Insomnia, at the Taj Mahal, Mumbai. He is versatile, and can play everything from Bollywood remixes and U K bhangra tunes to club, hip-hop, R&B, tech-house, tribal, progressive and melodic trance. His talented disc-jockeying has taken him to various parts of the world, including Antwerp, Brussels, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Singapore, Maldives and Dubai. He still rocks Mumbai at Insomnia.
