Savaranna is starting a new life today. And a lot of people are attending the baptism to celebrate. Those are the perks of being a good man.
On the occasion of the retirement of Backwards Castes Welfare Officer A Savaranna, Aradhana Cultural Organisation is felicitating him at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally, this Friday. Born in Chinnapothulapadu village of Mahaboobnagar district in 1949, Savaranna used to walk for 6 kilometres to study till seventh class, and 9 kilometres till 11th class after that. After completing PUC (Inter) in 1970, he joined as a Grade-II Warden because of his liking for social service.
In the meantime, he passed BA and MA, and in 1986 he was promoted to Backward Castes Assistant Welfare Officer for Madduru, Gadwal, Zaheerabad, Siddipet, Nizamabad and Hyderabad. In 2004, he was appointed as Backwards Castes Welfare Officer for RR district, and thereafter as Assistant Secretary for Hyderabad.
During his tenure, he gave hostel seats for poor children and students, and sponsored marriages for poor families. Statues of Mahatma Gandhi and B R Ambedkar were installed in several villages. He worked hard for the construction of NGO Bhavan in Mahaboobnagar. He received the Best Officer Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Aradhana Cultural Organisation. He is retiring from his service at the end of this month.
A Kuchipudi dance recital by Natya Ravali and Natya Ratna Kumari K P Lipika Reddy from Visakhapatnam will be held on this occasion. Lipika is a disciple of Pasumarti Seetaramaiah. Limca Book Record holder Mallela Sudhakar will also perform sound imitations and ventriloquism tonite.
