It's not only Osama bin-Laden who wants to redraw the earth. Nayak may not have the same objectives or resources, but he has the same zeal.
The Lakshana Art Gallery is holding an 11-day exhibition of paintings called Earthscapes, by a Bangalore based artist, Milind Nayak. Nayak is a self-taught senior artist, who was closely involved in the 1970s with the South Canara Art Council, a popular Karnataka based art collective.
Nayak's paintings represent all the colors of nature, mostly the wild untamed nature - leaves and scrubs, and ponds and the sky, all inspired by his frequent outdoor camps. Some of his best works include Yellow Mist (reminiscent of Van Gogh), Path In The Forest, Red Meadow, Green Meadow (both with evocative deep reds), Tranquil Pool (a blue pond with green-yellow growth around) and Pond Under A Storm that evokes the serenity of the place.
For more details about the artist's work and a CD compilation of the paintings, please get in touch with the artist directly at milindnayak@indiatimes.com or at (080) 339-2391. Please contact Lakshana Art Gallery at 329-8364/321-0294 for further details.
