In commemoration of the golden jubilee celebrations of St. Francis Degree College for Women, the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism is organising 'Drushti', a south Indian documentary / short film festival on 9th and 10th December at the college campus in Begumpet. More than 30 documentaries and short films will be screened during the 2-day festival.
In addition to the screenings, there will be a workshop on "The New Trends In Digital Cinema And How It Benefits Low Budget Films" by noted filmmaker Mani Shankar, and panel discussions on "The Identity Of Indian Cinema In Today's Globalized World" by cinematographer Madhu Mahankali.
Screenings will be held in 3 segments: documentary, short films and showcase. Prizes and awards including Best Film and Best Director will be given in the first 2 segments. Special Jury Award will be awarded for all the 3 segments in recognition of exceptional film-making. Only films made by students are eligible to be screened in the festival. Entry for all segments is Rs. 300 per film.
