It's a do-or-die battle for the Hyderabad cricket team as they take over Group A toppers Madhya Pradesh in the crucial Ranji Trophy Plate League Group A match, from 8th to 11th December, at the Gymkhana Grounds.
With the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium pitch offering no result, and desperate for a win, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) shifted the venue for the match to the result-oriented Gymkhana Grounds. During the last match with Tripura, due to threats of match disruption from the Pro-Telangana activists, the HCA had to shift the match to the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium pitch. This time around, thanks to a compromise formula reached to calm the Pro-Telangana protesters, the HCA has decided to play the match at the Gymkhana Grounds.
Yearning to break back into the Ranji Trophy Elite group, the fourth-placed hosts need an outright win against the table-toppers, and also require the results of other matches going in their favour - where bottom-placed Tripura continues with its all-lose record, and Rajasthan wins or draws its match against Jharkhand.
Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are on top of Group A table with 15 points each from four games. Goa is third with 11 points, and Hyderabad has 10 points from as many matches. Tripura has 6 points.
