She stood first in music in Andhra University. Today, Sirisha will show how far behind her she's put that.
The Dharma Prachara Parishad of TTD, Hyderabad, organises various music, dance, harikatha and other cultural programs, at various venues of the city. Today, Devulapally Sirisha will be singing devotional Carnatic at the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Devalayam in Himayathnagar, supported by Sashi Bhushan on the violin.
Sirisha will be rendering various Annamacharya and other keertanas during the 2-hour recital, including Meluko Sringararaya in Malayamarutam ragam, Kattedura Vaikuntham in Hindola ragam, Apara Rama Bhakti in Pantu Varali ragam, Ammamma Yevamma in Bhairavi ragam, Yennaga Manasuku Rani in Neelambari ragam, Nitya Pujalivigo in Karahara Priya ragam, Jo Atchutananda in Jhanjali ragam and Tillana in Valaji ragam.
Devulapally Sirisha is the daughter of Kasibatta Seetarama Sastry, a retired SE Railway employee of Visakhapatnam, and Seetarathnam, a housewife and musician herself. Sirisha learnt music from various gurus in the port city of Vizag, like I V L N Sastry, Jaladakshi, Saraswati Vidhyarthi and Indira Kameshwari. She continues to sharpen her music under one of the famous Hyderabad Brothers, D Seshachary.
Sirisha has been awarded the Dwaram Venkatasami Memorial Award for standing first in music at Andhra University. She has performed in many towns and cities of repute in India. She currently runs a music academy by the name Prachotan Music Academy in Yellareddyguda, teaching vocal skills to aspiring students of music.
