Kala Dhwani presents 'Chitravali' an exquisite exhibition of Mural Paintings from Kerala, being displayed at the Chitramayee State Art Gallery in Madhapur, Hyderabad from 8th - 10th October, 2014.
Chitravali will showcase the most astounding paintings of the seventeenth to the nineteenth century that have adorned the walls of the sanctum sanctorum of many of Kerala's temples and shrines. Apart from the exhibition, a key highlight would be the presentations on the art of the painting tradition by live artist.
Kerala style mural paintings capture the rich heritage of artistic traditions in Kerala and reveal the well-defined principles, practices and techniques for paintings throughout the state. Subjects and themes vary across the large pantheon of Hindu Gods and Goddesses drawn from the descriptions of the scriptures and texts. Kerala Murals is a stylized art form characterised by the simplicity of subjects, technical excellence, bold but delicate strokes, bright and beautiful colours.
