Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram is presenting this month's music program on 18th November, a vocal duet by Madhumita and Sushmitha, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. The vocal duet will be supported by B Pavan Singh on the violin and U Kali Varaprasad on the mridangam.
Madhumitha & Sushmitha are 19-year-old twins, studying B A final year at the Kasturba College, Secunderabad. They are both disciples of violinist Dwaram Poosarla Manorama, the grand-daughter of violin maestro late Dwaram Venkatasami Naidu.
They have completed the 6-year diploma in Carnatic vocal from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad, with distinction, in June 2006. Madhumitha is also a recipient of the CCRT scholarship for advanced training, for 2007-2009. They were selected in June 2007 as Yuvavani artistes of All-India Radio. They have performed at various sabhas and venues for the last two years, in Hyderabad.
Formed in 2002 by a senior vocalist V Ananda Mohan, Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram has been organizing classical music shows in memory of Late Uppalapati Ankaiah. As a tribute to the legend, it promotes upcoming and established artists by inviting them to perform in these concerts.
