On the account of Sri Thyagaraja Aradhanotsavam, Sangeetha Ksheerasagara is presenting a Carnatic vocal duet by Aruna and Padma, on 30th January, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. The duo will be accompanied by Ramaraju Dinakar on the violin and A Srinivasa Rao on the mridangam.
Aruna and Padma are sisters who have been singing for the last two decades. They learnt music from the Hyderabad Sisters Haripriya and Lalitha, and thereafter from M N Subrahmanyam. They had advanced training from the great flute maestro N S Srinivasan.
Both the sisters are A-Grade artistes of AIR, having sung in National Coordination programs of AIR and Doordarshan. They have M A in Music, with distinction. They have received several prizes, including the CCRT scholarship. Together, they have performed in various cities of the state and the country.
Formed in 2002 by a senior vocalist V Ananda Mohan, Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram has been organizing classical music shows in memory of Late Uppalapati Ankaiah. As a tribute to the legend, it promotes upcoming and established artists by inviting them to perform in these concerts.
