Kalasagaram is presenting a Carnatic vocal concert by Soumya Sridhar on 18th April, at Keyes High School. The concert is part of Kalasagaram's monthly program of music.
Soumya will be accompanied by O Rajashekar on the violin, D S R Murthy on the mridangam and K Shyam Kumar on the kanjira.
Hyderabad-based Soumya Sridhar initially learnt music from Usha Padmanabhan and Yamini Srinivas in the Middle East, and is currently training under the Hyderabad Sisters, Lalitha and Haripriya. She has been learning music for the last 14 years.
She won several prizes during her school and college competitions, and is also the winner of the prestigious Tambura Prize in the Dikshithar kriti competition organized by Kalasagaram every year.
Kalasagaram is a south-Indian cultural association situated in the East Nehru Nagar of East Marredpally, and has been organising Carnatic music concerts for more than 35 years now. The concerts are usually held in the open-air theater of the Keyes High School campus. Kalasagaram also occasionally stages South-Indian classical dances and Tamil plays.
