With 200 dance performances to her credit, Himabindu does not need any flattering biographies to be known. Still.
Shilparamam, as part of the on-going Sari Mela, is organising a Bharatanatyam recital by S Himabindu and her disciples, on 5th October.
Himabindu, along with her troupe of disciples, namely Haripriya, Lalitha Subasya and Baby Anjali, will be performing several solo items like Vinayaka Stuthi Koutvam, Sri Vignana Rajam Bhaje, Natanamadina, Meera Bhajan, Muddugare Yashoda and Murali Gaana Loludu. The accompanying orchestra for the evening is mridangam by Ramana, violin by Rajashekar, vocals by Srinivas and nattuvangam by S Himabindu.
Himabindu was a disciple of the renowned V S Rama Murthy since the age of 10, and established Sri Natyalaya in 2004. She is an M A in Bharatanatyam from the Hyderabad Central University, under Pasumarthi Ramalinga Sastry. She has about 200 dance performances to her credit, and is currently working, which restricts her to teaching only on Saturdays and Sundays.
Being a devout dancer, she takes time to teaches her art to about 6 students. She has won many competitions, and is a B-grade artiste for Doordarshan and an A-grade artiste at Ravindra Bharati. Her troupe has performed for TechManch at OU, the ISKCON Temple at Nampally, and the Ganesh Temple at Secunderabad every year for Dussera.
