Banarasi Saris Galore

Banaras is renowned not just for its paan, as made famous by our movies, but also for some exquisite classic weaves. Giving Hyderabad a dose of these weaves is Pitambari. Pitambari, has organised a Banarasi Maha Mela bringing in the best weavers in the world to sell their goods.

This special sale is marked not just by the number of saris - which, by the way is over 3,000 - but also by the craftsmen. The thing that sets these craftsmen apart from the rest is that they come with a title. They are the winners of the prestigious Master Weaver Awards organized by the Government of India.

Each sari is painstakingly created with a laborious effort of 200 mandays. Phew! That's enough time to make the entire wardrobe of Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu. On second thoughts, add Katrina Kaif to the list as well. These saris will unload a minimum of Rs. 800 from your purses and if you want to go all out then make sure you carry your husband's credit card to swipe a smoking Rs. 14,000 on it.
