First he pleased the Lord, then he pleased the box-office. One of the biggest devotional hits of Telugu cinema is on at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam today.
Directed by K Raghavendra Rao, Annamayya is apparently the life story of the universally acclaimed lyricist, Tallapaka Annamacharya. The film is about Annamayya's birth and his life as a devotee of Lord Venkateswara. Padmavati Devi, the Lord's wife, notices that there was no one in the world to eugolise Lord Venkateswara. She urges her husband to use his sword to bring about Annamayya's birth.
The Lord also comes down to earth on and off, to guide Annamayya and his parents. It is under his guidance that Annamayya becomes a great lyricist and renounces the world.
The movie has talented artists like Nagarjuna, Ramya Krishna, Mohan Babu and Roja.
