South Indian Cultural Association (SICA) is organising a 2-day Annamacharya Sangeetotsavam on 27th and 28th January at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium.
Sattiraju Venumadhav will be rendering a few Annamacharya keertanas on the second day and the last day.
Venumadhav is a young vocalist from Hyderabad. After initially learning music from Nedunuri Krishna Murthy, he is currently under one of the Hyderabad Brothers D Seshachari. He is already recognised as a music composer, and a singer of rare Annamayya keertanas. He has many Annamayya keertana albums released under his name. He has performed at various places in India, and also in the USA and the Middle East.
SICA was founded in 1959 by Dewan Bahadur Aramuda Iyengar, the then Finance Minister of Hyderabad's Nizam, and a patron of Carnatic music. The association has, since then, organised more than 1,000 concerts. It has provided a basic platform for upcoming artistes that include U P Raju and Nagamani, Mandolin Srinivas and the Malladi Brothers.
SICA conducts workshops, felicitates artistes, and provides both moral and financial support to upcoming artistes. Dr. S Chakravarthy, IAS, former Chief Secretary to the Government Of Andhra Pradesh, is the current President of the association, and R Chakrapani is the General Secretary.
