On the occasion of the 600th birth anniversary of Saint Annamacharya, the Annamacharya Project of the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams, together with Chaitanya Art Theatres, is presenting a music festival of Annamacharya keertanas, from 1st to 25th January, at Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Liberty X Road.
Today, the 13th day, Dhulipala Swati and Dhulipala Soumya will perform a Carnatic vocal recital of Annamacharya keertanas. The sisters are disciples of T P Chakrapani. They started learning music together at a very young age, and have performed at various places in Hyderabad, besides at Machilipatnam. They have also performed for Doordarshan, Hyderabad.
They have both have completed their certificate courses in music from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University with distinction. Swathi is the elder of the two, and is in her final year of engineering. She also has a Visharada Pratham certificate from the Gandharva University. Sowmya is doing her MBBS degree, and has a Madhyama Pratham certificate from the Gandharva University.
