There is never a wrong time to listen to Annamacharya keerthanas, but some times are more right than others. Like, whenever Ananda Battar is performing. Like, tonite.
Akshara Music is presenting a devotional vocal concert of Annamacharya keerthanas, titled Annamayya Akshara Neerajanalu, by Vedavyas Ananda Battar, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. Ananda Bhattar is a senior vocalist of the TTD Annamacharya Project. He has been an Asthana Gayaka at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam since 1982. On the occasion of Ananda Bhattar's silver jubilee in the TTD, Akshara is also honoring him this evening.
Ananda Battar has sung more than 500 Annamacharya keerthanas. He worked as an assistant music director for the movie "Annamayya", and composed Nigama Nigamanthara, Kattedura Vaikuntam, Vedamulu Nuthimpaga and Antharyami (the climax song) for the film. His audios Neeke Sharanu and Sri Ranga Shishuvu have become big hits.
Ananda Battar has dedicated his life to singing Annamacharya keerthanas at the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam, Tirupati, singing various keertanas in praise of Lord Venkateshwara for many occasions there like Sreevari Brahmotsavams, Theppotsavams, Paruveeta, Padmavathi Parinayam, Pushpayagam and all visesha sevas. Recently, he had his audio cassettes Annamayya Sankeerthana Samaganam, Annamayya Pada Yogam and Annamayya Sankeerthanandam released through the Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanams.
The guests for the evening are Padmabhushan and Gnanpeeth awardee Dr C Narayana Reddy, veteran actor Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao, director K Ragavendra Rao, actor Tanikella Bharani, and movie dialogue and story writer J K Bharavi.
Akshara Music was established recently, and this is the debut program of the organisation that's dedicated itself to the cause of spread the message of saint Annamacharya through music.
