An innovative way to scare the living daylights out of all the baddies is to create a fictional hero. The plucky journalist in the Telugu film Azad (2000) does just this. Deva (Raghuvaran) is a don trenched in the dirty pool of his misdeeds. Harassed by him, Soundarya makes up an imaginary 'Azad'.
Chandra Shekhar Azad (Nag), a simple guy from the village, gets embroiled in the whole affair. He is mistaken for the fictitious Azad. Though reluctant initially, he assumes the make-believe identity. What follows is the routine battle between good and evil.
The film cast includes Nagarjuna, Soundarya, Shilpa Shetty, Raghuvaran and Prakash Raj. Azad is directed by Tirupati Swamy. The film will be screened at the Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam.
