165th Aaradhana Of Saint Sri Thyagaraja: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR 165TH AARADHANA OF SAINT...

Sangeetha Ksheera Sagaram, Vigyana Samithi Anand Nagar, Vijaya Nagar Fine Arts Sujana Ranjani and Srikartikeya Gana Sabha are presenting the 165th Aaradhana Of Saint Sri Thyagaraja.

The concert is being held at the Anandnagar community hall on 13 January at 9am.

Thyagaraja Swamy is a composer from Tamil Nadu, who composed several kritis or sankeerthanas. It was not until around 1903 that Thyagaraja's last surviving disciples, Umayalpuram Krishna Bhagavatar and Sundara Bhagavatar, returned to Tiruvayyaru to host a proper memorial for him.

Thyagaraja Aradhanotsavam is held for 5 days in the Pushya month every year, in his commemoration.

The concert will feature felicitations to "Nada Sudharnava" Sri Annavarapu Rama Garu; and Ghana Raga Panchaka Gosti Ganam By Sangeetha Vidwans, Vidushis and young musicians, supported by Vaadya Vidwans "Pravachana Vaachaspathi"; and a lecture by Sriman T K V Raghavan.

The Chief Guest is retired IAS officer P V R K Prasad.

A mini lunch will be served, and entrance to the event is free.
