What is the essence of Hyderabad? It's not the Charminar, the Golconda, or any other historic structure, but its people. This is the idea behind the 1000 Portraits Photo Gallery being held at Prasads Multiplex Shopping Mall on 13th September. The show will be on from 11am to 6pm.
Using only 2 cameras through the course of a single day, a bunch of city professionals managed to shoot over 2,000 portraits of Hyderabadi denizens. The feat, considered to be a first in the country, was spearheaded by techie-turned-photography-enthusiast Kishore Nagaragiri, who got together an ensemble of associates to complete the project.
A fine Sunday morning earlier this month saw the group of techies, businessmen, students and service professionals assemble at strategic points in the city, following which, they got down to the business of shooting. While the informal group had earlier conducted self-styled photography walks on weekends, but this was a project of a larger scale.
From unsuspecting traffic policemen to roadside food vendors, and from shy college girls to celebrities on the run, the exhibition will feature several flavors of our city's streets.
While speed was of essence to completing the day-long project, the cumulative crew of around 20 amateur photographers managed to convince around 2,000 people to pose in front of the cameras, resulting in a final tally of 1,000 portraits.
The photographers include Kishore, Sekhar, Vijju, Rebel, Naveen, Ranjeeth, Chaitanya, Suraj, Jusri and Peddu.
