The heart-throb of yesteryears, Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao, will celebrate his 86th birthday on the 20th of September. And Srutilaya Arts Academy, in collaboration with Rangamani Chariar, is conducting a musical program titled 'Swarabhishekam,' at Thyagaraja Gana Sabha on 13th September, to celebrate the event. The program is on from 10:30am to 9:30pm.
The event is a Swarabhishekam to the versatile actor, and consists of a vocal recital of 86 songs from his movies. 7 singers will render ANR's songs orchestrated by Rangamani Chariar (Cine Raga Vishleshana Visharada awardee).
Nageswara Rao was highly popular for his romantic movies in the '60s. He has acted in classics, some of which are looked upon with awe by audiences even today. Singers Aamani, Surekha Murthy, Prasanna Lakshmi, Chandrateja, Venkat Rao, Subhash and Praveen will sing some memorable compositions from a list of movies that includes Sipai Chinnaya, Dr. Chakravarthy, Iddaru Mithrulu, Anarkali, Suvarna Sundari, Anubandham, Gundemma Katha and Devadas.
Gandhi is hosting the function, and Dr. C Narayana Reddy is the chief guest. Akkineni will be felicitated at 5:30pm. The singers will receive mementos as well.
