The Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation is organizing a 10-day Crafts Bazaar mainly to popularize traditional handicrafts and help in improving the earnings of the artisans. Major Industries Minister K Vidyadhar Rao will inaugurate the bazaar. About 150 artisans pursuing various crafts and representing different states from all over the country will exhibit and sell their products directly to the customers.
Some of the items that will be exhibited are softwood toys and dolls from Kondapally, Nirmal and Etikoppa villages; hand paintings in Cherial, Nirmal, Kalahasthi and Batik styles; puppets and lamp shades in leather; and metal castings.
State awards will be given to 10 selected craftspersons for their distinguished workmanship and skills. Please contact 2345-2492 for further details.
