Ushasri Mission is felicitating Dr Rallabandi Kavitaprasad on 7th September at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha.
The chief guest for the evening is V Harshavardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and would be presided by Acharya Bethavolu Ramabrahmam, Professor, Hyderabad Central University.
A book, "Dharma Sandehalu" written by Acharya Bethavolu would be released by Dr Rallabandi Kavitaprasad, followed by Dr Rallabandi's Ashthavadhanam. The eight Prucchakas for this avadhanam are, Dr Palaparthi Shyamalanand Prasad, Raavi Kondala Rao, Oleti Parvatheesham, Pannala Subrahmanya Bhattu, Satyavolu Sundarasai, V V Satyaprasad, Dr K Jyothirmayi and Dwana Sastry.
Avadhanam is a literary feat which involves concentration, resonance, command over poetic metres, creativity and wide scholarship. In Astavadhanam, the Avadhani (the scholar) takes on eight subjects posed by Prucchakas (subject scholars) at a time.
Dr Rallabandi Kavitaprasad was born in 1961 at the pilgrimage town of Bhadrachalam, and has a Phd from Osmania University. He participated in his first avadhanam at a very young age of 18 years, and went on to complete 450 avadhanas till date all over the world. He has a Satavadhanam, avadhanam with 100 Prucchakas and a Dwisatavadhanam, with 200 prucchakas to his credit. He has written several books of telugu literature, and received many awards, the prominent being The Telugu University Prathiba Puraskaram and AP Governement Adhikara Basha Puraskaram.
Ushasri Mission had been established in 1991, in memory of Late Ushasri, a prominent writer who's penned many books in Mahabharata and Ramayana, and with a mission to make acquainted with the holy epics to the present generation of youth.
