The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club, is screening a French movie They Came Back (Les Revenants) at Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet, on 25th May. The film is directed by Robin Campillo, and has Geraldine Pailhas and Jonathan Zaccai playng the lead roles.
The story begins with the inhabitants of an average French town finding their population has increased by 13,000 people. A slow-moving, mostly gray-haired, crowd walk through a French town. These people are clean, combed, and casually dressed. These are all people they know, people who have lived in this town before, people who have died over the past 10 years. "They Came Back."
While the authorities monitor and record movements, habits, sociability, and intelligence, the personal relationships between the returned and their respective live spouses and parents comes into the foreground. Painful memories are awakened; and guilt, fear, love, and even unearthed passions are aroused.
However, the returnees are quite different from their live cohabitants, and, in fact, involved in late night clandestine meetings, seemingly plotting with more intelligence than they exhibit in their day jobs.
Entry is free for everyone. Please contact the Alliance Francaise at 2770-0734/2770-0736 or Bh S S Prakash Reddy of the Hyderabad Film Club at 2373-0841/93910-20243 for further details.
