V N R Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VJIET) is organising its annual college fest, Sintillashunz 2008, from 14th to 16th March, at the college's campus in Bachpally village. The following is the list of events to be held during the 3-day fest:
Literary Events
JAM
The object of this game is to speak for a minute without repetition, hesitation or deviation.
War Of The Words
The competition of words is all set to lend you great moments, good fun and lots to learn. There will be two rounds - preliminary and final. Synonyms, antonyms and homonyms will wage war, and there will be one undisputed champion who will walk away with the prize.
Cat On The Wall
Call it a turncoat debate, floor-crossing or simply cat-on-the-wall - here's your chance to prove how convincing you can be and how passionate you are about every dimension of your thought. Jack the audience out with your glibness. Explore the lawyer traits in you. Do not hesitate to deviate from your current point of view even if it means you would have to return to it later.
Creative Writing
For hardcore bloggers and wacky writers - write anything creative and make headlines.
Pot Pourrie
It's a mixed bag of various events such as dumb charades and quizzing.
Mock Press
A media event where the judges will act as the press and the participants will be attacked with a flurry of bombarding questions.
Music Events
Moshter
A rock band competition on the last night. This night let the music take you high - hard, metal, alternative and classic. There will be some serious singing, shouting and swaying.
Instrumental Solo
Strum and pluck those strings, create a sound and make the audience enjoy.
Western Music Solo
Only English songs. Keyboards and guitar will be provided by the organisers.
Hindi Antakshari
A popular singing game that needs no explanation for today's television fans. Only songs in Hindi will be allowed. A group game of 3 participants.
Telugu Antakshari
Almost the same as Hindi Antakshari, but only Telugu songs here.
Light Music Solo
Participants are required to sing only film & pop songs. Keyboards and guitar will be provided by the organisers.
Classical Solo
Participants are allowed to sing only proper krithis and keerthanas. Srithi box will be provided by the organisers.
Creative Arts
Collage (Hodgepodge)
Have you ever tried making figures out of magazine cuttings? Showcase your creativity in using magazine cuttings at the fine arts stall.
Face Painting
Portray your art through a medium of a thousand emotions. Show your painting prowess with gentle strokes, making faces glow.
Painting
This is the grand old dad of all the events in Fine Arts. Wake up the painter in you, and go on a painting spree.
Face Painting
If you don't like any face, go and paint as creative as you can. Let your imagination flow, with gentle strokes make faces glow.
Drawing
Try your sketching skills with this wonder medium. Put your pencil on paper and let your imagination flow through.
Rangoli
You have trained your paints and colors on paper and canvas. Now it's time to paint your college ground.
Cultural Evenings
The most sought-after events at fests, they will be a refresher after a day full of boxing and pulling. Three evenings of rocking music, masti and hip-shaking, as follows:
14th March - Choreo Nite
A grand evening in VNR VJIET showcases the most talented college troupes in the region, mesmerizing a jam-packed audience rising to their feet at the sound of each beat. The electric atmosphere, robust competition and stunning vista leave the senses in awe.
15th March - Bombay Rockers Nite
Bombay Rockers are an Indo-Danish fusion band comprising of Thomas Sardorf and Navtej Singh Rehal. They are popular in India, and their debut album "Introducing" has gone five times platinum with sales of over 1,00,000. The lyrics of their songs are infused with bhangra pop coupled with English.
The cultural evenings for the 14th and 16th March are free of cost, but for 15th March there are entry tickets of Rs. 100 and Rs. 200, and Rs. 450 for a couple, available at f bar, Country Oven, M'Zuri and the college campus.
Entertaining activities such as music show, fashion show, rock show and jukebox will be held every day.
