As part of Saptha Rangala Mahotsavam, the 43rd annual celebrations by Andhra Kala Samithi, Dr. Sobha Naidu will be presenting a dance ballet called Nava Rasa Nata Bhamini. Her concert is being held on 24th May at Rail Kalarang.
Nava Rasa Nata Bhamini, or Navarasas Of Shakthi, is drawn from a range of sources that include the Shiva Puranam, the Devi Puranam, and Adi Sankaracharya's Stotras. This ballet is produced by Dandibhotla Vykunta Narayana Murthy, and the music has been composed by D Srinivas. The ballet has been directed and choreographed by Dr. Sobha Naidu, and enacted by herself along with her 15 disciples.
The ballet starts with Daksha Yagnam, followed by Lord Shiva's curse of Manmadha, Shiva getting engaged to the Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva's boon to his ardent devotee Gajasura, the destruction of Mahishasura, and the various roopas of the Goddess. Her roopas are Shringara Rasa Tarangini Narayani, Bhayakampita Narayani, Adbhuta Naayika, Prasanna Ragini, Pratapa Roopini Narayani, Roudra Roopa Swaroopini, Sachidanda Swaroopini, and finally the Shantamayi Narayani.
The Goddess' forms are depicted using Adi Shankaracharya stotras. The ballet will be presented in various forms - Surabhi, Yakshagana, Kuchipudi and folk dances in both Telugu and Sanskrit.
