The Hyderabad Film Club and the Friends of Iran Society, Hyderabad, under the auspices of the Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran, Hyderabad, are organising an Iranian Film Festival from 26th to 30th October, at the Indira Priyadarshani Auditorium, Public Gardens. 8 films will be screened during the 5-day festival.
Today, the inaugural day, Mehman-E-Maman (Mama's Guest) is being screened. The film was directed by Dariush Mehrjui, and has Golab Adineh, Amin Hayaee, Parsa Piroozfar and Hassan Poorshirazi playing the central characters.
The "mama" receives two dear guests: her recently married nephew and his wife are visiting her house for the first time. Her husband, who is a film buff and theater movie projectionist, is coming home empty-handed with no money while informing the rest of the family about the closing down of the theater.
Mama, who is suffering from a heart disease, is desperate because their financial situation is not allowing her to receive her guests properly and serve them in a traditional Iranian manner. The neighbours, in this old fashioned housing complex, who are even in worse financial stress, wholeheartedly come to rescue and help her to create a wonderful dinner feast.
The entry is free. Please contact Bh S S Prakash Reddy of the Hyderabad Film Club at 2373-0841/93910-20243 for further details.
