A tribal girl is cheated by a rich boy, and decides that she'll give it a shot. The rest is history. Relive the big hit by Usha Kiron Movies.
Mouna Poratam is the real life story of a tribal woman who staged a Mouna Poratam (silent protest) by sitting in dharna in front of the residence of the person who duped her.
A young tribal woman is cheated by a rich boy, and becomes pregnant. She asks him to marry her, but he refuses and disowns the baby. The woman sits in front of his house refusing to take food or water, and protesting his and his family's indifference toward her. Finally, with the help of social activists, she gets him to marry her.
This story happened in Visakhapatnam. The Eenadu Newspaper group came across this story and made the film, which became a huge success. Many girls followed the same route - and still do - protesting in front of the houses of the boys to get accepted.
In this film Yamuna plays the lead role. Vinod Kumar plays her husband.
