ITC Sangeet Research Academy is organizing the ITC Sangeet Sammelan on 4th and 5th October, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kulapati Munshi Sadan.
ITC's association with music began with the ITC Sangeet Sammelan conducted in Delhi in 1971. This Sammelan also instituted a substantial cash award to be given to one of the oldest living musicians of stature. The Sammelan took Delhi by storm and went on to become an annual rage.
ITC Limited established the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy (ITC-SRA) in 1978 with the objective of preserving and promoting Hindustani classical music. ITC-SRA has played a major role to revive and nurture India's rich heritage of Hindustani Classical Music. ITC-SRA was created as an independent Public Charitable Trust. It was modelled as an institution to epitomise the best of Hindustani Classical Music.
The ITC Sangeet Sammelan is held at all major cities across the country.
This October 4th, on the first day of the Sangeet Sammelan at Hyderabad, Tabla Maestro Anuradha Pal presents 'Stree Shakthi'.
'Stree Shakti' is India’s first ever all-women percussion-based vocal & instrumental fusion ensemble in the traditionally male dominated field of Indian Rhythm. Conceived and presented by Anuradha Pal, Stree Shakti combines the instruments and repertoires of North and South India, interfusing the Hindustani and Carnatic traditions, voice with instrumental and percussion, classical with the contemporary and melody with rhythm. This dynamic celebration of rhythm, fusing the traditional with the contemporary, reinforces the strength & novelty of 'Stree Shakti'.
