The Hyderabad Film Club, in association with Alliance Francaise, is screening a French Film titled A Bout De Souffle (Breathless) at Sarathi Studio, on 8th September. The screening will begin at 6:30pm.
Breathless is 90 minutes long and was directed by Jean-Luc Godard in 1960. It stars Jean Paul Belmondo, Jean Seberg and Daniel Boulanger.
Michel Poiccard (Jean Paul Belmondo), is a young thug who models himself on the film persona of Humphrey Bogart. He steals a car and impulsively murders a motorcycle policeman, and is now wanted by the authorities.
He renews his relationship with his American journalist girlfriend Patricia Franchini (Jean Seberg). He plans to fund their escape to Italy with a loan from an underworld acquaintance, expecting Patricia to accompany him on his planned getaway. Even with his face in the local papers and media, Poiccard is oblivious to the dragnet that is slowly closing around him as he recklessly pursues his love of American movies and libidinous interest in the beautiful American.
Based on a story by Francois Truffaut, Breathless is Jean-Luc Godard's first full-length movie. The picture won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
