Alapana, a cultural association, is celebrating the 86th birth anniversary of N T Rama Rao on 30th May at Ravindra Bharati. The event starts at 5:45pm in the evening. D V S Raju, a popular film producer, will also be felicitated on the occasion. The chief guest for the evening will be Dr. C Narayana Reddy, famous writer, and the other special guests are D Purandeswari, daughter of NTR, and Jamuna.
As part of the event, a musical nite will be organized, in which popular local singers will render melodies from the movies of NTR. The singers who are part of this musical nite are A Sarada Reddy, Amalapuram Kanna Rao, Bala kameswara Rao, Sunita Balaji, Muralidhar and Kamala.
Alapana was established by A Sarada Reddy in 2003. She has organized about 40 shows under the name. A trained Carnatic vocalist and dancer, she is a disciple of one of the famous Hyderabad Sisters, B Hari Priya. Currently, she is working in the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University as a lecturer in the department of dance.
Reddy has given over 10,000 performances around the world. She was part of many ICCR foriegn tours, as a vocalist to the dance performances, to countries like Russia, England, USA and South Africa. Her 36 years' experience in the art has helped a lot for the development of the organization.
