For the first time ever, Germany and India have come together to do something which has never been done before, a cultural exchange program featuring music in the form of heavy metal. In April 2014 History will be written. Suidakra (www.suidakra.com) the legendary folk metal band from Germany who have already played two successful tours in India will be back with a big bang and will be a part of the Wacken Metal Battle India tour. A tour of this magnitude will be the first time ever by an International band which has played in India.
The Wacken metal battle is a worldwide music contest which happens in 30 countries all across the world. The finals of this competition takes place at the Wacken festival in Germany. This is the 4th successful year India has been a part of it. The previous editions of this competition featured bands like Eccentric Pendulum (Bangalore) Zygnema (Mumbai) & Devoid (Mumbai) from India.
One Indian winner will represent the country at the Wacken Open Air Festival in August 2014. 2014 is also the 25th Anniversary of the Wacken Open Air festival and the festival was sold out within 48 hours of its announcement of tickets.
This project is in cooperation between different organizations: The promoters of the Wacken Open Air festival, the promoters of the Bangalore Open Air festival and the Goethe-Institute. The tour is also supported by the Wacken Foundation.
