A veena recital by Bhagyalakhsmi Chandrashekar is being hosted at Keyes High School, by Kalasagaram, on 24th October. The concert will begin at 6:30pm.
Born to music-loving parents, Bhagyalakshmi was initiated into the veena at the age of 9, under the tutelage of her Mudikondan Narayanaswamy Ayyar. She graduated in music with a gold medal from SRC Trichy, University of Madras, in 1972.
She was awarded the Govt. of India Scholarship for advanced studies in Veena. She has won many prizes in All India Radio competitions, and veena competitions held by The Music Academy and The Indian Fine Arts (Chennai). Bhagyalakshmi has performed at concerts in India and abroad. Her recitals include one at the Acting Hall (Central London), and others at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
