At the Turtle Festival, know more about the Olive Ridely turtle (a marine turtle), an endangered species that lays eggs at multiple places along the Maharashtra coastline. The Turtle festival is organized every year when the turtle eggs hatch. The schedule of the GHAC's trip is as follows:
Day 1) - April 4th (Friday) - 18:00 hrs - Start from Hyderabad to Pune by Super Luxury or Volvo Bus
Day 2) - April 5th (Sat) - 09:05 - Reach Pune at 10:00 - start to Velas in private bus
16:00 - Reach velas
17:00 - Explore the areas around Velas. Visit the Himmatgad Fort and the Bankot creek. Beachside night stay (if possible), in tents
Day 3) - April 6th (Sun)
6:00 - Head to the beach to see the hatching and release of the turtles.
8:30 - Breakfast
10:30 - Head to Harihareshwar Beach via the Bankot-Bagmandla Ferry boat.
13:00 - Lunch
15:00 - Leisure time
18:00 - Velas Beach for the release of turtles
Day 4) - April 7th (Mon)
6:00 - Turtle release on Velas Beach
8:30 - Breakfast
11:00 - Start from velas
18:00 - Reach pune
19:00 - Konark express to hyderabad
Day 5) - April 8th (Tuesday) - Back in Hyderabad and disperse.
The trip costs Rs. 4,400 per head.
