The Other Side Of The Bed - Spanish Film By Emilio Martinez-Lazaro

The 16th edition of the European Union Film Festival is being held from March 23rd to April 3rd at the Prasad Labs Preview Theatre. 19 films, focusing on the theme of "Laugh Like A European", will be screened at the festival.



The Other Side Of The Bed (El Otro Lado De La Cama), a Spanish film, will be screened on the penultimate day of the festival, the 2nd of April, at 8:00pm. The film is directed by Emilio Martinez-Lazaroe, and stars Paz Vega, Ernesto Alterio, Guillermo Toledo and Natalia Verbeke.



Love, lies, adultery and mistaken identities abound in this pop musical-comedy set in Madrid. The gorgeous Paula breaks up with her boyfriend Pedro in order to resume her affair with Javier. However, the immature Javier is unwilling to break up with his current girlfriend, Sonia, or to confess his affair with Paula to Pedro, who happens to be his best friend. The cheated Pedro hires a detective to find out who the secret lover of Paula is.



In short, the film narrates an engaging story of 2 couples who fall for each other's partners. The narrative is interspersed with big choreographed musical numbers, which only add to the feel of the film. The Other Side Of The Bed turned out to be a huge favourite at the Toronto International Film Festival, 2002.
