After a peek into the Glass Palace, Amitav Ghosh sweeps us away with The Hungry Tide, a book that narrates the story of cetologist Piya who tries to understand what could have compelled settler Daniel Hamilton to start a utopian society in the Sundarbans, a place extremely hostile to human survival. The Hungry Tide also speaks of Kanai, a man from Calcutta who must try and find himself in the wilderness of these mangrove forests.
Who can be better placed to discuss the nuances of a book than the author himself? That's how ITC's calling it as it invites Amitav Ghosh for a special reading.
