The Department of Mass Communication at St. Francis College for Women is announcing the second edition of First Cut, a one-day film festival.
The purpose of this event is to motivate young amateur film makers to exhibit their talents, strengthen their critical thinking abilities, give their ideas a voice, engage in the educational process and learn to interact in a work environment with other professionals and the community.
There are 3 categories for participation : Short Film, Public Service Announcement and Documentary.
The general rules are:
- A team or an individual can send entries for any or all categories.
- One copy of each entry must be submitted on separate DVDs.
- All entries must be accompanied by a brief summary of the work (not more than 100 words).
- All entries must reach the organizers before March 3, 2014.
- Only entries that have been shot and edited after March 1, 2013, will be considered.
- All works entered for the competition must be original.
- All DVDs must be labelled with title and running time.
- All entries will be judged by a panel of experts. Only short-listed films will be screened depending on the availability of time.
- Entry by registration is Rs. 30 for non-participants.
- Entry for crew members is free (up to 5 members)/
- A valid College ID must be brought along.
The rules for the Short Film category are:
- Duration: Upto 25 minutes
- Participation fee: Rs. 300 per entry
- The entry can be in any language.
- Entries in any language other than English must be accompanied by English subtitles.
- Any number of entries are allowed.
- Participants must submit the entries on DVDs.
The rules for the Documentary category are:
- Duration: Upto 90 minutes
- Participation fee: Rs. 200 per entry
- The entry can be in any language.
- Entries in any language other than English must be accompanied by English subtitles.
- Any number of entries are allowed.
- Participants must submit the entries on DVDs.
The rules for the Public Service Announcement category are:
- Duration: Upto 90 seconds
- Participation fee: Rs. 100 per entry
- Participants must submit PSAs on the theme given.
- Entries will be judged on the basis of concept, content and execution.
- The entry can be in any language.
- Entries in any language other than English must be accompanied by English subtitles.
- Any number of entries are allowed.
- Participants must submit the entries on DVDs.
