The Hyderabad Film Club is screening the film, The Da Vinci Code, on 19 December at the Sri Sarathi Studios Preview Theatre, Ameerpet. It is directed by Ron Howard, and has Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen and Alfred Molina playing the lead roles.
The Da Vinci code centres around a Harvard symbologist named Robert Langdon, whose Parisian lecture tour on symbolism comes to an abrupt end when he is called to the Louvre to help investigate the murder of the museum's curator.
As Robert works to solve the riddle left by the curator at the scene of crime, he stumbles upon certain discoveries that lead him to learn that some clues are hidden in the works of the renowned painter, Da Vinci.
Sophie Neveu, a gifted French cryptologist who may hold the key to some of the mysteries, helps Robert with the investigation. Together, the two discover that the late curator was involved in a secret society known as the Priory Of Sion - a society whose past members have included such notaries as Botticelli, Sir Isaac Newton, Da Vinci and Victor Hugo.
In their search, Sophie and Robert happen upon evidence that could lead to the final resting place of the Holy Grail, while members of the priory and an underground Catholic society known as Opus Dei give chase, determined to prevent them from sharing their greatest secrets with the world.
The film runs for 149 minutes, and had been nominated for numerous awards at the Grammy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and People's Choice Award, under the best film category as well as for its brilliant music score by Hans Zimmer.
