Louiz Banks, the godfather of jazz in India, is in the city to bring you a live musical extravaganza with his band, The Brotherhood, at Landmark on September 23. The party will start at 6:30pm.
The Brotherhood is a jazz quintet led by Louiz Banks. Gino Banks on drums, Sheldon on bass and Gary Lawyer with his classically trained bass baritone form the band. Louiz Banks has been spearheading the jazz movement in India for the past 3 decades. Apart from playing Jazz, he is a sought-after composer for advertising commercials, TV Serials, TV Themes, Curtain Raisers, Anthems Documentaries, Stage Musicals, Film Background scores, popular and Hindi Music.
Banks has performed with several artistes of international repute, including Eddie Henderson, Eddie Daniels, Charlie Mariano, Yolande Bavan, John McLaughlin, Tony Lakatos, George Brooks, Wallace Roney , Bob Belden, Roseanna Vitro, and Carl Clements. The Indian musicians who he has performed with include Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pam Crain, south Indian classical singer Ramamani, Sivamani, Ustad Zakir Husain, Shankar Mahadevan and Sultan Khan. He also undertook a tour all over India with the legendary Dizzy Gillespie.
