Aakruti Kathak Kendra is presenting Tarang, an evening of music and dance, on 2nd October, at La Makaan. The performances are part of an initiative to promote the talent of students being trained at the institute, and the programs for the evening are as follows:
7:00pm-7:05pm - Welcome address
7:05pm-7:20pm - Invocation songs by Deepa
7:20pm-7:40pm - Vakr Thund & Radhe Govind - Kathak performance by tiny tots
7:50pm-8:10pm - Salami & Guru Vandana - Kathak performance by middle level students
8:10pm-8:25pm - Ganesh Vandana, Tarana, Ladi & Ghat Nikaas - Kathak performance by senior students
8:25pm-8:30pm - Closing address by Mangala Bhatt, Founder and Director of Aakruti Kathak Kendra
Aakruti Kathak Kendra was founded by Mangala Bhatt and Raghav Raj Bhatt in 1992. The husband-wife duo dance in tandem, and have participated in numerous shows in India and abroad.
Born into a family of artists dedicated to preserving and spreading the rich traditions of India, Raghav Raj inherited dance from his illustrious father Dr. Gopal Raj Bhatt, a well-known name in folk and tribal arts in India. He was initiated into dance at the tender age of 5 and was soon drawn to Kathak. He received training from the living maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. He was also a recipient of the National Scholarship from the Government of India and the Central Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi. Raghav has traveled and performed widely in India and abroad.
Entering the artistic precincts of Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, Mangala took training under Kathak maestro the late Pandit Durga Lal.
