Here are paintings that would be precious even if the artist was not of any repute. Surely the clone wooden board with gold, semi precious stones and glass beads add up to something. But Mr. B. T. Raja is, by now, a much sought after maestro of Tanjore paintings. He won the Lalita Kala Akademi award in 1996 after having won numerous others. His paintings have been exhibited in many places , from Mumbai to Malayasia.
This collection is something Mr.Raja has been working on right since the 1980s. It has about 50 paintings and if you do the necessary math, that's a lot of time and effort into a single creation. The paintings mostly depict the Hindu gods such as Ganesha, Krishna, Shiva and Kanna. The display will be inaugrated at 7 pm on the 19th of October by film director Mr. Karunakaran and cinematographer Mr. R. D. Rajasekhar.
