Konda Srinivasa Rao is organising Symphony, an exhibition of paintings, from 26th February to 7th March at the Icon Art Gallery, Banjara Hills. The works showcased in the exhibition can be identified distinctly as a series of landscapes, city roads and village houses.
Konda Srinivasa Rao was born in 1979 at Krishna Rayudu Pedapudi of East Godavari, and started painting since 1997. He drew inspiration from the works of the great masters of the West that he saw in the Salar Jung Museum during his frequent visits.
Rao worked in several institutes doing reproductions of Ravi Varma and other great masters, but found no satisfaction in his occupation. He migrated to the city not just to earn a living, but to pursue his creativity, as the city has material, experience, exposure, galleries and museums. He could sense his own talent even as a child while watching other artists at work.
Rao mentions his works as semi-abstracts as he creates a point of entry into his image with identifiable forms. His brushwork is spontaneous and forceful, and his colour palette is true to the environment that he recalls in his imagery.
